Jay + Lisa: Wedding Video Highlights

Posted by Ryan on May 16, 2013 in Blog, Featured Wedding Video, Portfolio Feature | Comments Off

We had an absolute blast filming the wedding video for Jay and Lisa at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky!

Song Credit: Signed, Sealed, Delivered performed by the Joe Harvey Band (Song Recorded Live)
Wedding Venue: Trackside at Keeneland
Reception Venue: Kentucky & Lexington Rooms (Keeneland)
Wedding Coordinators: Christy Burton (Wedding Bliss) and Kate McLean (Keeneland)
Photographers: Gabe & Mary Lawson (Honey Heart Photography)
Flowers: Erica Svec (Hide & Seek Design)
Reception Music: Joe Harvey Band

What an honor to film a destination wedding video at Keeneland! Nestled in the rolling hills of central Kentucky with picturesque views from virtually every angle, Keeneland boasts some of the most exclusive and elegant amenities for a wedding party. Jay and Lisa are from Murfreesboro, Tennessee but chose to hold their wedding at Keeneland after falling in love with the rich tradition, beautiful scenery and fun atmosphere this special venue provided.

We met up with Lisa and Jay just as they returned from the starting gate where they were having photos snapped by two of our favorite photographers, Gabe and Mary Lawson with Honey Heart Photography. From the first moment we arrived Jay and Lisa went out of their way to make us feel welcomed…and they sure were ready to get the wedding party started! After a couple hours laughing and enjoying the pre-wedding festivities while filming, we moved downstairs and setup our gear for the ceremony.

The ceremony was held “trackside” where guests sat on the coveted green benches while taking in the stunning perspectives of the winner’s circle and the paddock with the grandstand in view to the left. Stunning spring floral arrangements by Hide & Seek Design adorned the ceremony location (way to go, Erica!) as the minister gracefully led Jay and Lisa through their wedding vows. (One thing is for certain: no photos or wedding video will do justice to the views at Keeneland!)

After the ceremony, the reception took place on the fourth floor of Keeneland (the Kentucky and Lexington dining rooms) and offered awe-inspiring panoramic perspectives of the track at sunset (not to mention the perfect spot for one heck of a celebration!).

Jay and Lisa lined up some incredible talent for the reception. Jay’s friend and Nashville-based musician Joe Harvey played an acoustic set while guests dined on a delicious meal prepared by Turf Catering, and once the traditional first dance was out of the way the bride and groom broke it down thanks to the amazing sounds of the Joe Harvey Band. Although our ears were ringing the next day, it certainly was worth it to experience this band up-close and personal while filming this fun wedding video.

From our perspective this wedding video was an absolute joy to capture and we’re grateful to Jay and Lisa for choosing us as their wedding videographers.

Leland + Alyssa: Wedding Video Highlights

Reel Special Productions was honored to capture the wedding video for Leland and Alyssa’s wedding at a family farm in Science Hill, Kentucky.

Every wedding video is special to Reel Special Productions, but this one was “especially special.” The father (Jeff) getting ready to walk his daughter down the aisle happens to be the pastor and treasured friend who married us in October 2010. The bride is one of Brittany’s friends and former roommates and just works at the same company where Ryan works full-time. When Brittany began her teaching career, she started alongside the bride’s mom (Rhonda) at an elementary school in Jessamine County.

Ryan was in a small group Bible study with Jeff and a few other guys. Soon after we had gone on our very first date, Brittany had dinner with Jeff and Rhonda and mentioned that she had gone on a date with a guy named Ryan. Jeff asked if it was “Ryan Worthen” and Brittany was shocked! At that moment dots were connected and a couple of years later, Ryan and Brittany stood in front of Jeff and tied the knot. Two and a half years later, we were thrilled to capture the wedding day for Leland and Alyssa and be a part of such a special time for Jeff and Rhonda.

Needless to say, we’re a little connected to this family and we’re sooooo happy for Leland and Alyssa and we hope you enjoy their wedding video and the bonus clips below!

Ryan + Erin: Wedding Video Highlights

Reel Special Productions was honored to capture the wedding video for Ryan and Erin’s wedding at Estes Chapel on the campus of Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Side note: Asbury holds a special place in our hearts; it just so happens that we both went to college across the street from the seminary at Asbury University. We don’t think it was any coincidence that we first saw each other at a wedding! Ryan was filming a wedding video for a good friend who also got married in Estes Chapel, and during the reception Brittany caught the bouquet — and Ryan’s eye!

Any opportunity we get to film in Wilmore, our memories instantly transport back to the day we first saw each other and the many times we spent in Wilmore falling in love with one another! We’re so excited we had an opportunity to capture Ryan and Erin’s wedding video and we wish them the best for a lifetime to come!

Proposal Interrupted by Giant Wave

When I proposed to Brittany I was flooded with a wave of emotions, but I can’t even imagine how this couple must have felt after they got engaged! Fortunately, the pics and video tell the story quite well!

You Deserve an Amazing Wedding Video

Posted by Ryan on Mar 4, 2013 in Blog | 0 comments

You’ve found the wedding venue of your dreams, planned a delicious catered meal for your guests, booked the most sought-after wedding photographer in the area and found the most Pinterest-perfect decorations for your wedding day. You have everything you need for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

And then you start looking for a wedding video provider.

Corey and Roxanne

Corey and Roxanne had a picture perfect wedding at Talon Winery in Lexington, KY.

We’ve witnessed this situation play out time and time again, and unfortunately many wedding planners are unaware of just how important a quality wedding video production has become. As such, nearly all the details are complete when many brides start their search for a wedding videographer.

The only problem? Brides are terribly disappointed when they learn that the best wedding video production companies are all booked. Much like the top photographers in a respective market, high-quality wedding video producers are now in high demand, oftentimes booking more than a year in advance.

With giant leaps forward in technology and a new wave of creative energy when it comes to wedding videos, times have changed for the better. Gone are the days of a tacky wedding video when considering companies like Reel Special Productions. If you’re on the fence about having an amazing wedding video which tells the story of your wedding day, don’t delay in contacting us and don’t miss the chance to have the wedding video you deserve.

Check out Corey and Roxanne’s video here.

Reel Special Productions was honored to film Corey and Roxanne’s wedding and reception at the beautiful Talon Winery in Lexington, Kentucky. We were absolutely thrilled when Roxanne reached out to us just weeks before her wedding — it just so happened that we had the date available despite booking others more than a year in advance! It was definitely a God-thing because we knew as soon as we met Corey and Roxanne that they were the type of couple we LOVE filming. The wedding day ran so smoothly and was filled with creativity. C + R, thanks for choosing us to be a part of your day!

Instead, Reel Special Productions has prepared the eight best engagement proposals caught on video! So how did we choose the best engagement videos on the web? Easy…there was no scoring, no professional judges, and no panel of experts…we just watched a lot of them and picked our favorites! Keep in mind these are in no particular order.

8. This is…hiccup…one of the funniest…hiccup…engagement proposal videos of all time!

Brennan and Suzy's Wedding Video

Brennan and Suzy tied the knot at Broadway Christian Church and held the reception at The Barrel House in Lexington, Kentucky.

When Brennan and Suzy decided on a destination wedding, they originally were thinking somewhere far down south. But then they found Lexington — the Horse Capital of the World — and they knew right away they had found the perfect place to hold a fall wedding. Reel Special Productions was honored to film this wedding video at Broadway Christian Church right in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The wedding reception was held at a new venue for us — The Barrel House (also located in Lexington). We absolutely loved having the opportunity to work with this amazing couple and we’re confident they will treasure their wedding video for a lifetime to come.

Wedding Video Highlights // First Baptist Church & The Bull at Boone’s Trace

Clay and Mandi’s wedding video at First Baptist Church in Richmond, Kentucky was a pleasure to film. These sweet newlyweds held their reception at one of my favorite golf courses — The Bull at Boone’s Trace (also located in Richmond, KY) — in the banquet room upstairs.
