Evan and Alex were married on August 27, 2016, at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky and chose Reel Special Productions to capture their wedding video. Check it out below.

Keeneland-wedding-reception

Keeneland is everything good that Kentucky has to offer. The horses. The green grass. The beautiful architecture. We just LOVE Keeneland!

We remember like it was yesterday. Alex contacted us about filming her destination wedding video just as she was getting ready to make the move from New York City to Nashville, Tennessee, where her fiancé Evan lived. Alex told us the top three must-haves for her wedding were the venue (Keeneland), the photographers (the Malicotes), and the videographers (us!). We were SO honored that Alex wanted us to capture her big day, especially because we knew it was going to be a gorgeous event thanks to her savvy style. In case you didn’t know, Alex is the beautiful one behind the fashion blog lexwhatwear (lexwhatwear.com or on Instagram at instagram.com/lexwhatwear) and we have LOVED following her work!

The wedding day arrived and we were eager to meet Evan and Alex at the Hilton where they were getting ready. Both the bride and groom-to-be had separate bridal suites overlooking downtown Lexington and with beautiful weather on this perfect August day, the natural light poured in as our dear friend Dana with PinkLouLou Design Studio put the finishing touches on Alex’s hair and makeup.

Music played in the background as the girls sipped their drinks and took fun polaroid pictures throughout the morning. The day was just getting started and we were so excited to be there filming their wedding video and working alongside our besties Matt and Kelsey (aka The Malicotes). Before we knew it, the time came for Alex to slip in her stunning two-piece wedding dress and head down to sneak a first look with her dad and brother before meeting Evan across the street in beautiful Triangle Park, one of Lexington’s most iconic spots.

Evan was cool, calm and collected before the first look, but he was also over-the-moon excited to see his beautiful bride. We found just the right spot and had Evan stand there while Alex made her way over for the big reveal. The sun was blazing hot, but the backdrop was so perfectly Lexington and SO them (although they live in Nashville, they are Lexingtonians at heart)! Alex crossed Broadway and was smiling from ear to ear as she walked toward her groom. The moment Evan turned around and saw his bride, it was as if the stress of the world melted away. Evan was in awe and kept telling Alex how beautiful she looked…it was a precious moment!

We’ve said this a million times, but we L-O-V-E capturing the bride and groom’s first look on the wedding video. It’s one the most special moments of the day that our clients get to relive over and over again!

super-8-kentucky

Super 8 is one of our favorite mediums to shoot, and Keeneland has a timeless tradition so it was the perfect place to capture some great film!

After Evan and Alex shared their first look, it was time to head over to Keeneland to capture more wedding video footage and pictures of the bridal party. By this point the weather was pretty hot and steamy, but that didn’t get in the way of us capturing the epic scenes around Keeneland…especially in the paddock area which is simply breathtaking! It’s no secret that Keeneland is a great place for photos and video, but when you have a super cool wedding party like Evan and Alex’s group, it made capturing the day so much more awesome.

After bouncing around to some different spots at Keeneland, we made our way over to the ceremony venue but not before stopping to snap some fun shots on the starting gate. Speaking of the Keeneland starting gate, you may have noticed a fun little twist with a different type of shot in the wedding video. 🙂 This is our first video where we incorporated Super 8 footage into the highlight video…because we LOVE Super 8 and adore the unique and historic charm it adds to our work!

Once the shots with the bridal party were complete, we moved to the Keeneland Entertainment Center and Keene Barn where the ceremony and reception would be held. Evan and Alex, found a cool spot to hide as guests were arriving, and we met up with one of our all-time favorite planners, Ginny Adkins with Sharing Special Moments, to talk about logistics for the ceremony. We loved seeing all the special touches Ginny incorporated into the space, including a beautiful chandelier hanging in just the right spot over the center aisle. Ginny’s style is second-to-none!

The minister led a beautiful ceremony where Evan and Alex exchanged vows and expressed their love for one another. He encouraged the bride and groom to love one another through challenges and to always help each other out through life’s ups and downs. The couple was pronounced husband and wife, sealed it with a kiss, and just like that Evan and Alex were now Mr. and Mrs. Sharp! Waaaahoooooo!

Wedding guests enjoyed a fun cocktail hour in Keene Barn before moving inside to the Keeneland Entertainment Center. (Did you happen to catch the moment where Alex sat with her grandparents? We just love documenting candid moments like those!) Guests enjoyed a delicious meal then the reception festivities got underway. The highlight for us was getting wedding video footage of The Downtown Band from Nashville, Tennessee. Y’all, They. Were. AWESOME!

Seriously. One of the best wedding bands we’ve ever heard! The Downtown Band rocked the night away and guests crowded around the dance floor to cut loose. The reception was so much fun and we couldn’t help but wiggle our way into the middle to get some great wedding video footage of everyone on the dance floor. This wedding was one for the ages and we loved every single minute of it!
