Jacob and Ashley are Indiana natives who lived in Lexington for a short time. Saturday morning trips to the downtown Lexington Farmer’s Market were a favorite for these two, and in fact, this is where Jacob popped the big question and proposed to Ashley! These two are incredibly down to earth, so sweet and have some precious stories of their relationship over the years. We knew after we talked with Ashley that their wedding was going to be amazing, so we were thrilled when she and Jacob decided to have us travel to Bloomington, Indiana for a fun destination wedding video!

We first arrived at The Biddle Hotel on Indiana University’s Campus where Ashley was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The girls had just finished eating brunch and were getting last minute makeup touches done before heading to the church. Ashley showed us her custom made dress which included pieces that were originally crocheted by her great-great grandmother. The details of this dress were absolutely stunning! Tears filled Ashley’s eyes as she described the work that went into making this dress and what it meant to her. You could tell this was one of the most special pieces of her day and we loved that she took the time to tell us the story behind it. Every piece of jewelry worn by Ashley had a special meaning behind it, especially the necklace her grandmother put on her moments before she walked down the aisle to meet her future husband, Jacob, at the altar. Did you catch that part on the wedding video? When Jacob saw Ashley at the start of the ceremony, there were few dry eyes in the place! There was just SO much love and so much meaning behind every part of this amazing wedding day and it was such a joy to capture.

Jacob and Ashley decided not to see each other before their ceremony, so we made sure to set aside some time for them to exchange and read their letters to one another. This is always a sweet moment and one we feel always gives the wedding video a nice touch. Jacob and Ashley were both a little nervous, but SO excited for the ceremony and wedding festivities to begin! And can we tell you just how much we loved this family? They took us in with open arms and made sure we were taken care of the entire time we were in Bloomington (they even had a care package waiting for us at the front desk when we arrived…how sweet was that?!).

The ceremony was held at St. Paul Catholic Center on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington. Ashley was a regular attendee of this church while she lived in Bloomington so it was only fitting that this is where she wanted to tie the knot with Jacob. As the ceremony began, some were surprised to see that Ashley was not carrying a bouquet, but that’s because the special women in her life were each holding a flower to give to Ashley as she passed them during the ceremony. When she reached the front of the aisle, Ashley had collected the most beautiful bouquet and her mom gave her a beautiful striped ribbon to bundle the bouquet together. All. The. Tears. This was such a sweet idea we’ve never seen before, but we sure loved capturing it for the wedding video!

The wedding reception was in the Tudor Room on the Indiana University campus was a perfect spot for Jacob and Ashley.

The priest did a wonderful job challenging Jacob and Ashley, and at the conclusion of his message he had the couple share their vows to one another. The ceremony concluded with communion and the pronouncement of Jacob and Ashley as husband and wife.

Following the ceremony, we hopped on a trolley reserved for the newlyweds and their bridal party. We cruised around campus while stopping occasionally to capture photos and video of the bridal party together before we got some epic wedding video footage of Jacob and Ashley together. One of the biggest highlights for us was having the opportunity to film Jacob and Ashley walking through an art festival in downtown Bloomington. The couple wanted to buy their first piece of art together as newlyweds, and we had a wonderful time capturing the couple in such a creative and unique setting. We also LOVED having the opportunity to work alongside Halee with Halee Betzner Photography and her talented second-shooter, Kennedy. Working with a creative professionals like these two made the wedding day go so smoothly for everyone!

The reception was held in the Tudor Room at Indiana Memorial Union. The room was beautifully decorated with floral centerpieces, and the large windows allowed the space to be filled with tons of natural light. Jacob and Ashley mingled with guests before they had their first dance, which by the way was AWESOME! These two did a choreographed dance and it was simply incredible. We also loved the special dances Ashley shared with her father and grandfathers. Jacob’s dance with his mom wasn’t too shabby, either!

Soon after the dances were complete, guests enjoyed a delicious buffet meal. The toasts were another sentimental part of the day, especially the one given by Jacob’s sister. We loved what she had to share with the newlyweds so we decided to include it in the wedding video highlights: “I’ve always felt that saying ‘congratulations’ seemed like a silly thing at weddings because it sounds like the end and it sounds like your job is finished, so instead of congratulations I’m going to say ‘bon voyage’ because really, your journey together is just beginning.”

What an honor it was to travel to Bloomington, Indiana to film the newlyweds' wedding video!
