The newlyweds chose “I’ve Waited Long Enough (instrumental)” for their wedding video.

He is a respected Wall Street executive who grew up in London, England. She is an accomplished writer and health coach from Lexington, Kentucky. Together, Luke and Ellen make an adorable pair who came all the way from New York City to Winchester, Kentucky for their stunning destination wedding. So what drew them to such a quaint Kentucky town known mostly as the home of Ale-8-One, a popular Kentucky soft drink? It turns out that Ellen wanted to get married in her father’s hometown of Winchester and Kentucky had a lot to offer for guests coming from all over the world. Leading up to the wedding, the bride and groom celebrated their wedding week with a trip to Keeneland, drinks at McCarthy’s and a host of other fun activities in the Bluegrass (wouldn’t it have been fun to capture all these activities for their wedding video?!).

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect to film our first wedding video of 2014. We arrived at the church a few minutes early so we could get some footage of the beautiful building and decor. While the wedding party was getting ready at Moundale Manor, we were able to get some creative shots and coordinate some shooting logistics with the church coordinator and priest (both of whom were an absolute pleasure to work with). It wasn’t long before Luke and Ellen’s family and close friends started to arrive at the church to put on the finishing touches. The wedding party arrived and before long, several massive passenger buses pulled in front of the church to unload guests who had traveled from out of state or overseas for the wedding (the bride and groom arranged for the buses so guests wouldn’t have to drive from Lexington to Winchester).

We were blessed to have an outstanding wedding coordinator in Angela Sallee helping us stay on top of all the action throughout the wedding day. After a quick chat with Angela, we took a few minutes to strategize with our dear friends and extremely-talented photographers, Matt and Kelsey Malicote (Malicote Photography) on where each of us would be at various points during the ceremony. Once we worked out those details to ensure both the photos and wedding video would be picture-perfect, we took our places and the ceremony soon began. This was our first Greek Orthodox ceremony, but as we do with every wedding video we shoot we researched details regarding the customs and traditions of the particular ceremony, so we were well prepared and definitely excited for a new challenge.

The ceremony went out without a hitch (actually, Luke and Ellen DID get hitched, but you know what we mean!). After the newlyweds made their grand exit down the church steps, through the crowd of celebrating guests and into the awaiting vintage Bentley, they circled the block before returning to capture some family photos. The guests boarded the buses and enjoyed a very brief drive to Moundale Manor (the same location used for the bridal party’s preparations), so we jetted ahead and got some great wedding video footage from around the beautiful mansion and front lawn before the bride and groom arrived.

As guests enjoyed a myriad of hors d’oeuvres, Luke and Ellen spent a few minutes with Malicote Photography and Reel Special Productions capturing some gorgeous images before we all went in to enjoy a magnificent cocktail hour. Before long the buses arrived in front of Moundale Manor where guests were then shuttled to the Winchester Opera House, one of the many beautiful and historic buildings in downtown Winchester. Luke and Ellen arrived to a comfortably-filled ballroom where loved ones were treated to a surf-and-turf meal and a cake that was simply to die for. Toasts were thoughtfully offered by the bride’s sister and the groom’s brother, followed by the newlywed’s first dance and other special dances.

At the end of the evening, we were confident that the wedding video footage we captured would make for an incredible highlight video, and we were so excited to share it with Luke and Ellen. As soon as Luke and Ellen watched it, they sent us an email saying, “This is SO AWESOME!!! We can’t stop watching the video and smiling. Fantastic job.” Needless to say, but responses like that are what remind us of the incredible opportunity and privilege we have to capture such an important day in the lives of others.

Luke and Ellen, we hope and pray that you enjoy the rest of your wedding video and it was an honor to be a small part of your beautiful day. Thank you for choosing Reel Special Productions and we trust that your wedding video will be treasured for generations to come!
