It would be impossible to forget the evening we met Allison early last summer to talk about her wedding to Will. Ryan was wearing one of his favorite shirts from Valhalla Golf Club and Allison immediately lit up when she saw it…little did we know that both Allison and Will were avid golfers and both played in college (Allison played for Centre College and Will played for the University of Kentucky). After we chatted about golf for a few minutes, we got down to wedding business and Allison told us all about the plans for her and Will’s wedding day.

Allison shared with us that she and Will have been together since high school and after it was clear after being around them on their wedding day that they share a special bond built on deep love and loyal friendship. We were so thrilled that Allison and Will chose Reel Special to capture their wedding video and we couldn’t believe how quickly this past year flew by…We were tickled pink when the wedding day finally arrived!

Our first location was at the Hyatt in downtown Lexington where Allison and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Lang and Kate, the husband-and-wife duo with Lang Thomas Photography, had just arrived and were capturing shots of the preparations so we started filming footage for the wedding video while the beautiful bride was getting the last few bobby pins placed in her hair. Allison and her bridesmaids were all so calm and relaxed…it was just wonderful to be around them! Once Allison’s mom arrived it was time to get Allison fastened up in her stunning white wedding dress and the girls made their way down to an awaiting limo. Within minutes Allison and Will would share their first look and we were so excited!

We absolutely love Keeneland weddings (or in this case, Keeneland wedding receptions!). It’s not just the beautiful and historic landscape that makes us swoon, but the people and service are simply amazing. The Keeneland staff was there to greet the wedding party and vendors as soon as we arrived. As soon as Allison was hidden, we worked with Lang and Kate to place Will into the perfect position for the first look and we started rolling for one of our favorite parts of the wedding video! Allison walked through a magnificent stone archway just as Will turned the corner to meet his bride. The couple was beaming with excitement and they savored the precious few moments together before meeting up with their wedding party for photos around Keeneland’s immaculate property. We captured some beautiful shots for the wedding video and after family photos were taken, we headed to the church for the ceremony.

The ceremony was located at the beautiful Second Presbyterian Church in downtown Lexington. Gorgeous white hydrangea ribbon bouquets were eloquently placed throughout the sanctuary and one glance at the stained glass around the building would simply take your breath away. Will and Allison shared their vows with one another in a wonderful ceremony and hundreds of guests celebrated when the minister declared them husband and wife.

Following the ceremony we headed back to Keeneland for the wedding reception in the Keeneland Entertainment Barn (also known as the Keene Barn). (Side note: If you’re planning a destination wedding in Kentucky, plan on a Keeneland wedding! You will NOT be disappointed and there is NO comparison). Melody with Refined Social Events and Productions put together one of the most astonishing receptions we’ve ever been a part of and no matter how hard we tried, the wedding video simply doesn’t capture the incredible work done by Melody, her team and the Keeneland staff. Guests entered under a long, tented entryway that led to the location where the cocktail hour was held. Hors-d’oeuvres and drinks were served while the Highland Chambers Quartet entertained guests as they mingled with one another. Soon after guests were seated the bridal party and newlyweds were introduced. Tall, eye-catching floral arrangements were placed at the center of each table the place settings featured a custom-printed menu bearing each guest’s name.

The cake by Martine's Pastries was as delicious as it was beautiful!

When the dinner service began, ten waiters and waitresses all walked in unison out to each table and set the multi-course meal down in unison. Needless to say, but the synchronized service was an amazing and beautiful thing to see! Once the guests were wrapping up their dinner the newlyweds danced for their first time as husband and wife. And if there’s one thing we’re sure of…this couple sure is loved! There wasn’t a moment throughout the entire evening where family and friends weren’t at their side telling them how happy they were to celebrate their wedding!

We absolutely loved being a part of Will and Allison’s wedding day. Will and Allison, we hope that as you look back on your wedding video you will be able to relive and cherish your amazing day. We are so honored and grateful that you chose us to capture it and wish you all the best for many years to come!
