Michael and Selena were married at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington, Kentucky.

Michael and Selena are an incredible couple. These two have supported us and cheered us on for as long as we can remember, and Selena must have known that Brittany’s love language is “words of encouragement” because after we met with them and they chose to hire us to film their wedding day, Selena sent us several handwritten cards just to say “thank you” and tell us how excited she was to work with us. The couple even had a gift for us when we arrived on their wedding day! Selena and Michael knew from the moment they were engaged that they wanted to hire us to capture their most special day and we are oh SO happy they did because they have hearts of gold.

The wedding day started at a hotel in the French Quarter near downtown Lexington where the bridal party was getting ready. Selena was hanging out with her bridesmaids in their adorable matching robes while the guys were on another floor getting dressed and ready for the day. Talk about a fun bridal party…these girls were the sweetest and loved being there to support the bride! Some of the bridesmaids were getting final touches done to their hair and makeup while we captured a quick shot of Selena’s dress for the wedding video, and once we were done we stepped out while Selena slipped on her gorgeous gown. The bridesmaids were so excited to see Selena, and their reaction was priceless when they first saw her! And did you catch Selena’s beautiful Indonesian earrings on the wedding video? Selena spent her early childhood living in Indonesia with her family, and those earrings were a very special addition to her most amazing day.

Kentucky Native Cafe

The first look was at Kentucky Native Cafe.

Our original plan to head to Gratz Park for the first look was sidetracked by a festival, so our epic photog besties, Matt and Kelsey Malicote, came up with a backup location that just so happened to be the perfect spot…Kentucky Native Café. You all! Have you seen this beautiful little gem in downtown Lexington? It sits next to a spectacular plant nursery with an extensive garden of potted plants and flowers. It was an ideal setting to capture the first look for their wedding video. When Michael turned around to see his stunning bride, he was in awe and couldn’t stop hugging her. We could see the joy in their faces when they realized they would soon be husband and wife and it was the sweetest!

Shortly after the first look, we took off to Ashland (also known as the Henry Clay Estate) where the bridal party took pictures. We were able to capture some beautiful footage for the wedding video of Michael and Selena with their bridal party. The landscape behind them made for a beautiful setting and the sun was shining just the perfect amount…thanks Lord, for that one! In a matter of no time, we wrapped up our time at Ashland and made our way to the church.

The ceremony was held at Cathedral of Christ the King. The architectural design of the cathedral and the spectacular stained glass windows didn’t disappoint. Guests gathered together and filled this beautiful space to watch Michael and Selena join in marriage. The music and message made for a sweet ceremony, and both Michael and Selena recited their vows with confidence in knowing the depth of their love for one another.

The reception was also held at the beautiful Carrick House in Lexington. Each table was decorated with beautiful floral centerpieces that added pops of color throughout the room. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Lundy’s Catering before the Jimmy Church Band got the night started. We had so much fun capturing wedding video footage of friends and family breaking it down! It was an incredibly fun evening and we’re just so happy we were able to be there to capture this amazing day.
