We met with Shelby about a year ago, and as she talked about her love for Tyler and shared her plans for the big day, we knew this was going to be an incredible wedding. As we got to know this couple better, it didn’t take long to realize that Tyler and Shelby are a pretty amazing duo. Tyler is a Realtor with The Back Team at Keller Williams Greater Lexington, and Shelby is the oh-so-fabulous creator of Glitter & Gingham (@glitterandgingham on Instagram and Facebook), a popular fashion-focused lifestyle blog. We absolutely LOVED following Shelby’s work over the last year and feel we were able to get to know her and Tyler so much better simply by seeing their adorable posts counting down to the wedding day.
We first arrived at 21c in downtown Lexington where Shelby was getting ready with her bridesmaids in the amazing bridal suite on the top floor of the newly renovated hotel. Our amazingly-talented friend Allison with PinkLouLou Design Studio was finishing up Shelby’s hair and makeup as we started capturing some fun footage for the wedding video. Shelby’s bridesmaids were all so much fun to be around and treated us as if we’d been friends forever.
Before we knew it, the time had come for Shelby to step into her wedding dress. We knew her style was impeccable, but wow. Just WOW. We were in awe of the stunning design and elegance of this Reem Acra gown. It fit Shelby perfectly…personality and all. She was beyond stunning and her smile lit up the room!
While Brittany was filming with Shelby and her bridesmaids at the hotel, Ryan was capturing Tyler with his groomsmen as they got ready at Tyler and Shelby’s new home (which was just as beautiful as you’d expect from these two!). And did you see those awesome blue Kentucky socks the guys were wearing in the wedding video? The fun footwear definitely added a little spunk to those classy tuxedos!
After Tyler and Shelby fought back tears reading their letters to one another, it was time for both of them to head to The Apiary where the couple would share their first look. We say this time and time again, but we L-O-V-E when couples choose to do a first look and NOT just because it’s a beautiful moment to capture in photos and on video. More importantly, the first look is one of the ONLY moments on the wedding day where the bride and groom can enjoy a few minutes together, and we consider that time sacred.
And y’all, can we just talk about how much we love Apiary? This place sure doesn’t disappoint with architecture design and beauty when it comes to picking out the perfect spot for the first look. Tyler and Shelby arrived at separate times and of course, we hid Shelby while we got Tyler got into place. Once Tyler was in the perfect spot, Shelby gracefully walked down the brick path to her groom. She tapped his shoulder, he turned around and you could just see them both instantly feel like they were on cloud nine! Tyler was in awe of Shelby and kept telling her how beautiful she looked. It was so precious! These two were simply enamored with one another and we loved being able to capture this moment for the wedding video!
The ceremony was held in downtown Lexington at St. Peter Catholic Church. It was amazing to see so many of Tyler and Shelby’s friends and family come together to witness them becoming husband and wife. The priest shared a beautiful message during the ceremony that highlighted their talents and love for one another, and after Tyler and Shelby shared their vows to one another, they were pronounced husband and wife!
Once we were done capturing some wedding video footage during family photo time, we headed back to Apiary for the reception. Shelly Fortune with Shelly Fortune Event Design sure did an amazing job with the INCREDIBLE design for the wedding reception. Every detail — from the table linens by La Tavola Fine Linen to the furniture provided by Canvas Event Furniture — completed the space perfectly and from the moment we arrived, the timeline flowed seamlessly. And did you see the spectacular flower chandelier by P.G. Howard Designs Florist in the wedding video? Holy moly it was a stunner to say the least!
Guests were treated to a delectable buffet of foods with southern flair, and the bar served up drinks all evening long while the Jordan English Band kept everyone dancing and singing. We’ve heard Jordan perform before but this was our first wedding and y’all, he and his band are outstanding performers! It was even hard for us not to bust out some moves behind the camera! Ah, who are we kidding…we were breaking it down whenever we thought nobody was watching and it was good for our souls! 🙂
This wedding reception was everything. Incredible food. Immaculate décor. Amazing entertainment and an absolutely amazing couple to celebrate alongside. When the reception came to a close, the guests lined the exit at Apiary and created the perfect sparkler tunnel for Tyler and Shelby to walk through before they climbed into a vintage Bentley and headed off to start their lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Back.
Tyler and Shelby, we absolutely loved filming your wedding! We hope that as you look back on your wedding video you will be able to relive and cherish your amazing day as if it were yesterday. We are so honored and grateful that you chose us to capture it and wish you all the best for many years to come!
