Alan and Sarah were married in a beautiful wedding in Winchester, Kentucky, on October 2, 2020, and Reel Special got to capture their wedding video.

Alan is an insurance agent with State Farm in Winchester, and Sarah is a photographer, social media guru, and the author of the lifestyle blog Space, Place, & Southern Grace. The two met on Bumble, and knowing that Alan worked for State Farm, Sarah first asked him, “What are you wearing, Alan from State Farm?” to which Alan appropriately replied, “Khakis.”

Alan and Sarah’s wedding plans were unfortunately impacted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic (as Sarah wrote here, “The pandemic doesn’t care about weddings.”) However, despite the cancellations and uncertainty throughout the planning process, the couple realized that their perfect wedding day could still happen with a change in perspective.

Which leads us to Harkness Edwards Winery in Winchester, Kentucky. This beautiful, rural property is nestled just outside of Lexington and boasts stunning views of the Bluegrass. Alan and Sarah know the owners of the winery, and it couldn’t have been a more suitable location for their wedding. It also provided us with some beautiful wedding video footage!

Sarah and her bridesmaids used The Peach House for their preparations. The space offered ample room for the girls to have their hair and makeup done, and we loved all the natural light that poured in through the large upstairs windows.

The couple opted to do a first look before the ceremony, and it was such a sweet moment when Alan and Sarah finally got to see each other on their wedding day. For the first look, we worked alongside the photographer, Anya Lorenzo with Mothwing Photography, to capture footage of the couple and their wedding party for their wedding video. From there, we headed to a different location on the property where the ceremony was set to take place.

The setup and details for the ceremony (and reception) breathtaking. While Sarah has impeccable style (just check out her blog to see what we mean), she also recruited the help of Bourbon City Events to assist with her wedding plans. The dynamic team with Bourbon City Events did an outstanding job and helped make the day run so smoothly.

Alan and Sarah’s ceremony was a beautiful reflection of their personalities: laid back, sentimental, and beautiful in every way. The couple wrote their own vows to one another, and we just loved him hearing and seeing the emotions and deep love between these two. The smiles on their faces when they were pronounced “husband and wife” were priceless!

After the ceremony, we captured some shots of the newlyweds and their families to include in the wedding video, then we briefly headed into the vineyard where we were able to get magnificent golden hour footage with Alan and Sarah.

The evening concluded with an intimate reception just behind The Peach House. Alan and Sarah shared their first dance together as Mr. and Mrs. Walters, and their closest friends gave speeches about how happy they were to celebrate their wedding day together.

Alan and Sarah, we LOVED filming your wedding! We hope that as you look back on your wedding video you will be able to relive and cherish your amazing day as if it were yesterday. We are so honored and grateful that you chose us to capture it, and we wish you all the best for many years to come!
