Duke and Katie were married on May 12, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky, and chose Reel Special to capture their wedding video. Check it out below.

Carrick House outdoor wedding mansion

Duke + Katie chose to tie the knot in front of the Carrick House in downtown Lexington.

We met Duke and Katie early last year on a Facetime date. They had recently gotten engaged and were beginning the wedding planning process when they reached out to us about filming their wedding video. Duke was busy in school and Katie busy with work, but these two were so excited to plan their wedding have everything fall into place. They worked closely with their planner, Jackie Lee with Every Last Detail, to round up a fabulous team of vendors and we were ecstatic when they asked us to be a part of their best day ever!

We first arrived at the home of one of Katie’s dear friend. The home was tucked away in a beautiful Lexington neighborhood and was the most perfect spot for her to get ready with her girls. We were able to get some small detail shots before it was time for Katie to put on her dress. One of our most favorite details was her incredibly creative wedding invitation. Did you see it on the wedding video? One of Katie’s friends did the watercolor painting for her invitation and it was ahhhmazing!

Once Katie’s hair was finished, she stepped into her wedding dress. Her gown was simply stunning and featured the most intricate lace detail on the back. Katie completed her look with sparkly earrings that her mother helped her put on.

Right before Katie did a first look with her bridesmaids, she opened the present Duke had given her. It was a bottle of wine that dated back to the year they first met, and Duke wrote the absolute SWEETEST poem and tucked it on a card inside the wine box. I mean…you all. This poem. So, so good. Katie was in a puddle of tears and it was just the sweetest thing ever. Her love for Duke was evident in the way she read each and every word. Her smile shined as she wiped away the tears, and it was so special for us to be able to capture that precious moment so Duke can see her reaction.

Carrick House wedding first look

The first look in front of the Carrick House was absolutely precious!

Before we knew it, it was time to head to the Carrick House in downtown Lexington. Katie was ready to share a first look with her Dad and see Duke for the first time.

First looks are always so special and we LOVE that Katie chose to do one with her Dad because his reaction was priceless! We are pretty sure there was not a prouder father anywhere in the world when he saw his daughter on her wedding day.

Once Katie finished having a few minutes with her Dad, she retreated to the bridal suite upstairs so we could get Duke in position for their first look. Duke stood in front of the Carrick House while Katie gracefully walked through the front door and down the stairs to her groom. When she tapped his shoulder, he turned around and gave her the biggest hug! What a sweet moment to capture for the wedding video! She embraced her groom and you could instantly see their nerves calmed! After the first looks, we hopped on the party bus and headed over to Gratz Park where we were able to capture some footage of the wedding party together.

The ceremony took place on the front lawn of the Carrick House. It was a beautiful late spring day and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for an outdoor ceremony. Friends and family filled each row of chairs to see Duke and Katie say their “I do’s.” In fact, so many loved ones gathered that only standing room remained!

Did you see Katie’s beautiful smile on the wedding video the whole time she walked down the aisle? She was beaming with joy! Her Dad gave her away, and the officiant (a close family friend who happens to be a judge) delivered a wonderful challenge to the couple before having them share their vows with one another. As the ceremony wrapped up, Duke and Katie were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. and sealed their vows with a kiss!

For the cocktail hour and reception, guests simply moved indoors at the Carrick House. This venue is naturally one of the prettiest in town, but Jackie with Every Last Detail did an amazing job transforming the space into a unique, elegant place for Duke and Katie’s guests to celebrate with the newlyweds. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Lundy’s and then the real celebrating got underway…cake, toasts and dancing!

You all, the Downtown Band was AWESOME and had the whole room packing the dance floor! We loved capturing wedding video footage of guests breaking it down and enjoying such a fabulous evening. These two sure knew how to throw an epic party!
