Julian and Camila were married in a beautiful wedding in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, on September 12, 2020, and Reel Special got to capture their wedding video.

Julian and Camila live in Tampa, Florida, and had originally planned on an extravagant destination wedding in Lexington. When COVID-19 forced them to change plans, these two decided that nothing was going to stand in the way of them getting married.

The couple met and fell in love right here in Lexington. While they both attended the University of Kentucky, they actually met working together at the Apple Store in Fayette Mall. Julian said during a brief wedding video interview that the moment he saw Camila, he knew she was the one. How sweet is that?!

For her wedding day, Camila chose to get ready at a beautiful photography studio on Maxwell Street in downtown Lexington. With plenty of natural light flowing in, we were able to capture some stunning shots of the bride, her sister, and her stepmom as they prepared for the day’s events. While we were at the studio, Camila learned that her Dad was surprising her with a limousine to transport her and Julian for the day. It was such a thoughtful gesture…what a great idea, Dad!

Once the preparations were complete, we headed to Gratz Park, a charming and historic park just a few blocks away from where Julian and Camila planned to do their first look before the ceremony. It was absolute magic when these two saw each other for the first time on their wedding day, and it’s one of our favorite moments in the wedding video! Julian couldn’t stop marveling at his beautiful bride, and Camila was over the moon to finally be with her groom on their wedding day. Together with Olivia Hatfield Photography (who was AWESOME to work with, by the way), we captured some dreamy photos and footage of the couple around the park before heading to Historic St. Paul Catholic Church across from Rupp Arena (home of the Kentucky Wildcats) for the ceremony.

One of the many things we loved about Julian and Camila was how important it was for them to have their family be a part of the wedding day. Julian is Palestinian and Camila is Brazilian, but both their families moved to the United States many years ago so their wedding brought together a beautiful blend of cultures and traditions which was a joy to capture for their wedding video. For example, during the ceremony, Scripture readings were shared in Arabic, and after the couple was pronounced husband and wife, both families gathered on the steps of the church and celebrated the newlyweds with songs and dancing! It was such a unique and beautiful aspect that we knew had to be part of the wedding video highlights!

Following the ceremony, we headed to Epping’s on Eastside, a locally owned restaurant in a historic building known for its sophisticated dining experience and warm, inviting ambiance. Julian and Camila reserved the private dining room, and it was the perfect space for their family to gather and share a meal together. The newlyweds shared a first dance as Mr. and Mrs., and also honored the timeless traditions of the father-daughter dance and mother-son dance. It was the perfect end to the most perfect wedding day.

Julian and Camila, we LOVED filming your wedding! We hope that as you look back on your wedding video you will be able to relive and cherish your amazing day as if it were yesterday. We are so honored and grateful that you chose us to capture it, and we wish you all the best for many years to come!
