Ashland Henry Clay Wedding

Justin and Christine’s first look on their wedding day was at Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate.

Justin and Christine had their first date at West Sixth Brewery in downtown Lexington. It just so happened that Christine had to work late that night, so her close friends took her place in getting to know Justin a little bit before showing up. From the moment they first met, they have been inseparable and within a matter of months, Justin proposed and the two began planning the most amazing wedding!

When the wedding day arrived, we headed to the home where Christine was getting ready. Christine was having finishing touches done with her makeup and her hair was perfectly curled and pinned. The matching pajamas and excitement of all the girls made for such a sweet afternoon. You could not wipe the smile off Christine’s face; she was absolutely glowing as she prepared to see her groom! We especially loved the moment where she shared her story about meeting Justin for the first time and the moment she knew Justin was the one. These two have such sweet hearts and their love for one another was overflowing!

Once Christine was ready, we headed to Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate. We worked alongside the wonderful Melanie Mauer to set up the perfect first look spot. Justin stood along a beautiful green path running up the center of the Ashland Garden, and Christine walked toward him in her elegant white gown. You could feel the electricity as Justin finally turned around and saw his bride!

After taking some time to get photos and wedding video footage of the couple and their wedding party, we headed over to Gratz Park for some additional shots with the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and Justin’s parents. It was indeed a beautiful day outside, and the bridesmaids’ beautiful green dresses with pops of burgundy in their bouquets highlighted the most perfect fall wedding day.

The ceremony took place at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The ceremony took place at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Lexington. To say this ceremony was one of the most classy, elegant and beautiful events we’ve ever filmed would be quite an understatement. Justin and Christine put so many incredible heartfelt plans into their nuptials, starting with a choir entering at the beginning of the ceremony. Several of Christine’s family members traveled from Haiti to be a part of the special day, so Christine incorporated several aspects into the wedding that celebrated her family’s cultural background. Loved ones shared sonnets and Scripture both in English and in French, then the priest shared a captivating message of hope and love for Justin, Christine, and their guests. It was evident that each piece of the ceremony was so delicately planned. What an honor it was to witness so many friends and family from all over the world gathered together to witness the sacred marriage of these two uniting as one.

Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, we headed to the reception at the Carrick House just a few blocks away from Christ Church Cathedral. As guests entered the mansion, instead of having a guest book Justin and Christine had them sign Christmas ornaments and write sweet little messages for the newlyweds. Christine was so excited to celebrate her first Christmas with Justin by decorating their tree together with the ornaments signed by their loved ones. What a creative and lovely idea!

Friends and family mingled in the foyer of the mansion during the cocktail hour and light appetizers and drinks were shared. It was fun to capture loved ones on the wedding video celebrating and cheering to the newlyweds! After dinner was served, Justin and Christine had the ceremonial cutting of the cake then the band opened the dance floor. Within minutes, the center of the ballroom was packed with people and the guests danced the night away to a variety of mainstream tunes as well as Haitian songs of celebration.
