Ricky and Meagan were married on November 7, 2015 at Central Christian Church in downtown Lexington, Kentucky and chose Reel Special Productions to capture their wedding video. Check it out below.
Meagan had just come off a long shift from working at the hospital when we had a consultation with her to discuss our wedding video services but you would NEVER have guessed because she was so sweet and excited to meet with us! She had nothing but smiles and all the feels in talking about her then fiancé, Ricky, and the plans she was starting to put together for her fairy tale wedding. It’s not often a bride meets with a wedding video provider before finalizing her other vendors, but we sure love it when they do!
Fast forward to the big day…earlier in the week Bill Meck was calling for a good chance of rain but thankfully he was w-r-0-n-g! It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful fall day for a wedding in Kentucky and that gave US all the feels!
We arrived at a hotel near the reception location where Meagan was having the final touches done to her hair and makeup. All of Meagan’s girls were gathered around in their cute plaid monogrammed shirts and cowboygirl boots. We got a quick shot of her BEAUTIFUL wedding gown then worked with Jaron Johns with Dei Gratia Photography to set up the first look with Meagan’s dad. Also working with our good friend Jaron was another talented photographer, Alicia Fierro…talk about a dream team, right?!
We soon made our way over to the University of Kentucky campus where Ricky and Meagan would share their first look. We LOVED the fact that Ricky and Meagan actually met each other on campus…so it was only fitting that their first look location was right outside the window where the class was held. Jaron made sure to get some shots of the couple just outside that window…what a treasure those will be years down the road when they can show their kids exactly where they met (then bust out the wedding photos of them in the same spot!). Before seeing one another, Ricky sat down to read the sweet letter his bride had written for him and Meagan did the same. I don’t know about you, but it was pretty evident that these two wrote a pretty incredible fairy tale story and they couldn’t wait to get married!
We headed to the ceremony which was located at Central Christian Church in downtown Lexington. We’ve filmed countless weddings at Central Christian Church and we have a great relationship with the folks there; they really appreciate the fact that we are able to get all the best angles without being a distraction to anyone during the ceremony. One of the most special elements of Ricky and Meagan’s wedding day was the fact that Meagan’s cousin co-officiated the ceremony and did a FANTASTIC job. He shared precious stories about Ricky and Meagan’s childhood and charged them with pursuing a marriage that focused on serving one another and honoring God.
After the couple were officially pronounced “husband and wife” we jetted over to the reception at the The Round Barn at Red Mile. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour as they waited on the newlyweds to arrive. This was our first time filming a wedding video at this unique location and it was WONDERFUL. We had a fun time capturing aerial shots of the reception venue before guests arrived and can we just talk for a minute about that stunning backdrop showcasing the best of Lexington?! YES PLEASE!!!
The The Round Barn at Red Mile was truly a perfect reception venue and Bayou Bluegrass Catering sure went out of their way to make sure all the wedding guests were well cared for. We also ADORED the southern-fall-rustic theme that had everyone swooning! Horseshoes and burlap wrapped wine bottles stood as the centerpieces along with beautiful bouquets of flowers and baby’s breath. After guests enjoyed a delicious meal we went into the toasts (which were hilarious!), the cutting of the wedding cake and of course the special dances.
Jason with Kentucky Pro DJ had the dance floor hopping! There’s no doubt that Jason is one of our all-time favorite DJ’s…he is always on top of his game and knows how to get all the guests moving! Friends and family had a great time dancing the night away and enjoying celebrating with the new Mr. and Mrs. Obst!
Ricky and Meagan, we LOVED capturing your wedding day and we hope as you look back on your wedding video you will be able to relive and cherish your amazing day. We are so honored and grateful that you chose us to capture it and wish you all the best for many years to come!
