Carrick-House

The Carrick House is a stunning venue for weddings in Lexington, Kentucky.

What a beautiful day it was for a wedding! We arrived at the Carrick House moments before Brandi zipped up her gorgeous wedding dress. The beautiful bride and her bridesmaids were finishing up with last minute make-up touches and enjoying some time together before the festivities began. It was so much fun trying to keep Brandi hidden from JD (they chose not to see each other until Brandi was ready to walk down the aisle to meet him).

We were fortunate to work alongside Matt and Becca from Renaud Photography capturing some shots of Brandi and her bridesmaids as well as getting wedding video footage of JD getting ready. JD was such a fun and easygoing guy to be around…and MAN does he know a thing or two about movies! In fact, JD has his own movie review and podcasting business called InSession Film where he covers a variety of films (we can only hope our wedding film of his special day will get a rave review as well!). But JD’s personality wasn’t the only reason why we clicked…He LOVES Michigan football! That’s right…he’s a die hard Michigan Wolverines fan so Ryan was on cloud nine filming this wedding since he is a fellow Michigan fan himself.

Both the ceremony and reception took place at the magnificent Carrick House in downtown Lexington. The ceremony was arranged in front of the elegant, cascading waterfall and the reception took place in the grand ballroom.

And speaking of the ceremony, did you see JD’s face on the wedding highlight video? We have filmed a lot of weddings and without a doubt, the look on JD’s face when he first saw Brandi was one of the most priceless moments we have ever captured.  JD and Brandi’s love for one another was so precious and it was so evident how much he adores her! When the minister announced that JD could kiss his bride, he leaned in quick without hesitation. As the ceremony ended, guests were treated to a fabulous cocktail hour which included a maize and blue (Michigan colors!) themed candy bar…it was so fun! The cocktail hour gave us a great opportunity to capture some epic shots of JD and Brandi together for the wedding video.

The reception was highlighted with big, bright yellow sunflowers and touches of blue were scattered throughout. The room was full of close friends and family that were there to share in this special day. The bridal party entrance was so much fun as they all had their own little grooves, and of course JD and Brandi entered in grand fashion as the newly Mr. and Mrs. Duran. As guests were served dinner, the one-and-only Jason Henninger with Kentucky Pro DJ spun some of JD’s favorite cinematic scores. Every part of the reception seemed so heartfelt, especially the toasts from Brandi’s best friend and JD’s brother. The rest of the night seemed to play out perfectly. We were able to capture JD’s dad breaking it down on the wedding video, and the DJ made sure that the celebration matched the excitement that JD and Brandi shared on their special day. From the first song to the last, this wedding crowd did NOT disappoint and they danced from first song until the very last! JD and Brandi departed the reception through a tunnel of sparklers and before long they were off to Jamaica for a honeymoon in paradise.
